Uploading documents to print
Web upload lets you print a document without installing anything. You upload the file in your browser, choose how it should print, then release it at a Cirros device. It works from any computer, phone or tablet.
Document upload has been rebuilt to be faster and more dependable. For the background, see Built to grow: strengthening Cirros document upload. You do not need to do anything differently.
Before you start
- Get the web address. Open the web upload page your organisation gives you. If you do not have it, ask your IT support.
- Choose how to sign in. Registered users sign in with their email address and PIN. If your organisation allows guest printing, you can use the guest option instead and you will be given a Job Code.
Upload a document
- Open the page and sign in. Select Login and enter your email address and PIN. As a guest, select Anonymous User where it is offered.
- Choose your files. On the upload page, click anywhere in the window to open the file dialog, then select the documents you want to print.
- Upload. Select Upload. A progress bar shows your document being prepared, and the page count appears almost straight away.
- Choose your options. The Cirros print window opens. Choose colour or mono, single-sided or double-sided, the number of copies and any other settings. The cost is shown in the window.
- Send the job. Select Print to Cloud once and wait for it to finish.
- Note your Job Code (guests). If you are a guest, a message shows your Job Code. Make a note of it before you select OK: you need it at the device and it cannot be retrieved later.
Wait for the preparation to finish. Large documents, long PDFs and files with a lot of images take a little longer. The progress bar shows you that your document is being prepared.
Colour and cost. Cirros reads the colour and page count of your document, so check the cost shown in the print window before you send the job.
What you can upload
You can upload common document and image files, including Office files and PDFs, and you can upload several files in one go. If a file will not prepare, save it as a PDF and upload that instead. For very large or complex PDFs, see Printing large or complex PDFs.
Collect your print
- Go to any Cirros device.
- Sign in or enter your code. Registered users sign in in the usual way. Guests select Guest where it is shown, then Print, and enter the Job Code.
- Release the job. Choose your job from the list, check the settings and select the green print icon.
- Pay if asked. At a public print device you pay at the payment terminal. See Paying for public printing.
