Scanning with Cirros
You can scan at any Cirros managed printer once you are signed in. Scans can be sent to your email or to your workstation, in mono or colour. The exact options vary a little by device model.
How to scan
- Sign in at the printer by tapping your card, or with your email and PIN / Passcode.
- Select Scan.
- Load your original in the document feeder or on the flatbed.
- Choose your scan settings. Pick mono or colour, single-sided or double-sided, and scan to email or scan to workstation. The settings icon opens the advanced options.
- Start the scan with the green scan icon.
- Sign out when you have finished.
The default scan settings are usually mono, single-sided and scan to email, at a standard resolution and as a searchable PDF. Your organisation's defaults can be changed on request.
Large scans
A large scan is sent as a download link rather than an attachment. Open the link promptly and only once: it stops working shortly after it is first opened, and the scan is removed after about 72 hours. If the link has expired, scan the document again.
Searchable PDFs
Scans are normally produced as a searchable PDF, so you can search the text. Very large or unusually oriented pages may not be made searchable. The default format and resolution can be changed for your organisation on request.
If your scan email does not arrive
If the printer says the scan was sent but the email does not arrive, it is usually held by your organisation's email security rather than lost.
- Check your junk or quarantine folder.
- Ask your IT team to check mail filtering and allow messages from the scan service.
- If it still fails, note the time of the scan and the printer serial number and pass them to your IT team, who can have the logs checked.
