My print did not come out

You sent a print job but nothing appears when you go to release it at the printer. This is the most common thing people ask about, and it is usually on the computer side rather than the printer. Work through these checks in order.

Checks

  1. Check you printed to the right printer. Choose Send to Cirros (called Send to GovPrint in GovPrint organisations) and press the green Print to Cloud button when it appears.
  2. Restart your computer. Delete any stuck jobs from the Windows print queue first, then restart. This recreates the Cirros print queue and fixes most cases.
  3. Check you are signed in as yourself. If the print window is signed in under another account, your jobs go there. See Signing in with the correct account. If you have recently changed department or email, your card may still be linked to your old account, see Register your ID card at a printer.
  4. Turn off Direct Submission if it is on. Right-click the Cirros icon in the system tray and switch it off, then print again.
  5. Try the web upload. Sign in to the Cirros web upload with your email and PIN / Passcode, upload the document, and release it at the printer. See Uploading documents to print. If that works, the problem is on your computer, and your IT team should take a look.

Large PDFs will not print

Printing a big PDF straight from a web browser often fails, because the browser turns each page into a large image. Open the file in Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader and print from there, or use the web upload above.

If the printer itself shows a message

If the printer shows an error or says it is unavailable or offline, the problem is at the device rather than your computer. See Printer messages and errors.

Still stuck

If none of these help, contact your IT team. Tell them the time you printed, the computer and printer you used, and exactly what you saw.
