Cirros Android Print App

The Cirros app lets you send documents, photos and web pages from your Android phone or tablet to Cirros, ready to collect at any Cirros managed printer. You set it up once with your work email, then print anything using Share or Print and the Send to Cirros option.

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet running a current version of Android.
  • A Cirros account, this is your normal work email.
  • During the trial, the invitation link to join the test and install the app from Google Play (sent to you separately).

Install the app (trial)

  1. Open the invitation link you were sent. It opens the Cirros app on Google Play and enrols you as a tester.
  2. Tap Install. The Cirros app is added to your device.

Once the app is generally released, it installs from Google Play in the normal way and the test invitation is no longer needed.

Set up the app (once)

  1. Open the Cirros app. You will see the Send to Cirros welcome screen.
  2. Tap Enrol with email.
  3. Enter your work email and tap Enrol. Your browser opens briefly so you can sign in and confirm it is you, then returns to the app.
  4. When you see Ready, Sending to [your organisation], you are set up. You only do this once; it is remembered the next time you open the app.

From the Ready screen you can run a test print to check everything is working, and un-enrol if you ever need to remove or switch the account.

You print straight from whatever app the document is in, there is no need to open the Cirros app each time.

  1. Open the item you want to print, for example a PDF, a photo, or a page in your browser.
  2. Tap Share and choose Send to Cirros. In some apps you reach it through Print instead: open the menu, choose Print, then select Send to Cirros as the printer.
  3. Check the document shown, then tap Send (or Print).
  4. The Cirros print ticket appears, showing the page count. Confirm it to send the job to your print queue, then close the ticket.

Printing from Microsoft and Office apps

Send to Cirros appears wherever an app offers the standard Android Share or Print options. Some Microsoft apps, such as Outlook, use their own menus, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are sent as a PDF. Either of these routes prints them easily:

  1. Through Print. In Outlook, Word, Excel or PowerPoint, open the document or attachment, open the app menu, and choose Print. Then select Send to Cirros as the printer.
  2. As a PDF. In Word, Excel or PowerPoint, choose Share or Save as and pick PDF, then share that to Send to Cirros.

If you do not see Send to Cirros straight away, look under Print and choose it as the printer, or tap See all in the Share panel to find it.

Collect your print

Your job waits securely in your Cirros print queue until you release it. Go to any Cirros managed printer, sign in the way you normally do (for example your PIN / Passcode or card), and release the job from your print list. Nothing prints until you are there to collect it.
