Signing in to Cirros

Your Cirros sign-in is your email address as the username and your PIN / Passcode as the password. This is not your network or Windows password. This guide covers your first sign-in, signing in at a printer, and what to check if sign-in does not work.

Your PIN and your Passcode are the same thing. GovPrint organisations call it your Passcode; other organisations call it your PIN. This guide says PIN / Passcode to cover both.

Your PIN / Passcode

Every Cirros user has a personal numeric PIN / Passcode that identifies them at the printer. If you are a new user and do not have one yet, Cirros issues one automatically the first time you sign in to the Cirros desktop client, and emails it to your work address. You keep the same one after that. For the full detail, including resets and reminders, see Printer PINs.

Signing in at a printer

Sign in at the printer before you release a print, copy or scan.

  1. Tap your ID card on the card reader, where one is fitted, or
  2. Select Login and enter your email address as the username and your PIN / Passcode as the password.

To use a card for the first time, see Register your ID card at a printer. When you have finished at the printer, sign out, so that no one else can use your session.

Signing in on your computer

When you print, the Cirros print window signs you in and remembers you on that computer. On a shared computer, make sure it is signed in as you, or your jobs go to someone else's queue and will not appear when you try to release them. See Signing in with the correct account.

If you cannot sign in

  1. Check it is a Cirros printer. The Cirros or GovPrint logo should be on the welcome screen. Other printers will not accept your Cirros PIN / Passcode.
  2. Check your details. Your username is your email address, and your password is your PIN / Passcode, not your Windows password.
  3. Reset your PIN / Passcode if you have forgotten it. You can do this yourself and a new one is emailed to you, see Printer PINs.
  4. New starter? Accounts are usually created automatically from your organisation's directory. If you see "user not found", your account may not have synced yet. Your IT team can check.
  5. If nobody can sign in at that printer, by card or PIN / Passcode, the printer has probably lost its connection. See Printer messages and errors.

The sign-in screen always shows the Cirros logo, even in GovPrint organisations. That is expected.

Still stuck

If you still cannot sign in, contact your IT team. Tell them the time you tried, the printer or computer you used, and exactly what the screen showed.
