Register your ID card at a printer

Where card readers are fitted, you can tap your ID or building card to sign in at the printer instead of typing your PIN / Passcode. The first time you use a new card you link it to your Cirros account once, then a tap signs you in from then on.

Before you start

  • You need your Cirros PIN / Passcode. If you do not have one yet, see Printer PINs.
  • Have a print job ready to send, so you have something to release once you are signed in.
  1. Send a print job from your computer as normal.
  2. At the printer, tap your card. If the card is not yet linked, you are asked to sign in.
  3. Sign in manually with your email address and PIN / Passcode.
  4. Check that your correct name is shown.
  5. Tap your card again and select OK to add it. Your card is now linked to your account.

Your account works on every Cirros printer in your organisation, so a card linked at one printer works at all of them.

Using your card

From now on, just tap your card on the reader at any Cirros managed printer to sign in. Then release your held jobs, or start a copy or scan. Sign out, or tap again to end your session, when you have finished.

If your card is not recognised

If the printer keeps asking you to add a card you have already registered, your card may still be linked to an old account, for example after a change of department or email address. Re-pair it:

  1. Ask your IT team to remove the card from the old account.
  2. Send a print job, then sign in manually with your email and PIN / Passcode once, and check your correct name is shown.
  3. Tap your card and select OK to add it.
