Cirros Ricoh Installer release notes
These are the release notes for the Cirros Ricoh Installer, the bench tool used to put the Cirros apps on Ricoh IM-series devices. For how to use the tool, see the Cirros Ricoh Installer operator guide.
Version 1.7 Public
Release date: 08/10/2026 · Replaces: version 1.6
Faster app updates
Updating or reinstalling the Cirros apps on a device that is already set up now installs only the apps that changed, then reboots once. It no longer runs the full set-up sequence again.
What changed
- Devices that are already set up (update or reinstall). The installer now installs the changed app or apps, reboots once, and checks the result. It skips the set-up steps that are already in place on the device, so there are fewer steps and fewer reboots.
- New devices with no Cirros yet. No change. The full set-up still runs as before.
- Updating a single app. Load the newer version of one app and run Install. The installer updates just that app and reboots once, because it already skips any app that is on the latest version.
- Reboots per update. Down from about three to one.
Why it matters
Routine app updates are faster and carry less risk. For example, when the Cirros suite moves to a newer build, each device needs one reboot instead of three, and nothing is rewritten on the device that does not need to be.
What is unchanged
- Installing on a new device works exactly as before.
- The standalone actions in the installer are unchanged.
Tested on a real device. We tested the new update path on a Ricoh device that was already set up. The apps updated in a single run with one reboot, and the device came back to the normal Cirros home screen.
For the full update steps, see Updating a single app in the operator guide.
